This plant is a native of Paraguay, from a region called the Amambay in the mid-subtropical forest in the south-east of the country. This area is very mountainous and somewhat isolated, which may explain why stevia has been overlooked for so long in European countries.

Stevia gets its sweetness from a family of molecules called "steviol glycosides". The members of this family of molecules, among which the best-known are stevioside and rebaudioside A, have a natural sweetness ranging from 60 to 350 times that of sucrose. They are not fermentable and are indigestible, meaning that they contain almost zero calories and have a glycaemic index of nearly zero.

Stevial Infusion®
Our Stevia Rebaudiana leaf infusion is obtained by soaking stevia leaves in hot water. It can be used in plant-based beverages and its label offers a 100% natural list of ingredients. Its sweetening power is equivalent to 2 to 4 times that of sucrose.
